Clay Leonard
Lead Pastor
Clay Leonard has served as pastor at Momeyer since September 2018. Clay was born and raised in Morganton, NC in the foothills of the mountains. He surrendered to God’s call on his life to ministry at the age of 17. He met his wife, Kelly at Burkemont Baptist Church and they were married there in 1998. Clay was trained (Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Master of Divinity in Christian Education) at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
Clay and Kelly have lived in Nash County since 2001 and they have ministered at 2 previous churches. Clay served as Associate Pastor at both Red Oak Baptist Church (2001-2006) and NorthSide Community Church (2006-2018).
Clay and Kelly are blessed to raise 2 sons, Brayden (2003) and Elison (2004). Their first son, Camden (2002) was stillborn at full-term and has been living in the presence of Jesus since.
Pastor Clay loves to coach basketball at Faith Christian School, watch baseball, play golf and volunteer in and through many organizations throughout the Tri-County area.

Brad Jones
Discipleship Pastor for Children and Youth
Associate Pastor Brad Jones, his wife Sarah and their daughter Elle began their ministry with Momeyer Baptist Church in January of 2023. His driving force in ministry is building and nurturing relationships. As the Discipleship Pastor for Children and Youth, Pastor Brad seeks to foster the development and growth of a firm foundation of faith within the whole family. This is accomplished as he shares the gospel through relationship building, teaching, and spiritual guidance with children, youth, and their families.
Brad and his wife Sarah were both born and raised in Eastern North Carolina. Prior to joining our community Pastor Brad has spent almost 20 years in ministry, serving churches in North Carolina and Virginia in the roles of Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor. After graduating from East Carolina University in 2003, with a major in Religious Studies, Brad received his Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University in 2006. Pastor Brad was ordained in 2004.
Brad enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his border collie Molly. His hobbies include sports, movies, reading, history, and traveling. Pastor Brad is a big ECU fan and pulls for the Tarheels in basketball.

Chris Sorensen
Associate Pastor for Senior Adults
Pastor Chris Sorensen and his wife Linda have been married for over 50 years! They continue to set a great example of serving the Lord together. They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
Chris walked away from a career with the Carolina Power and Light Lake Hyco Power Plant in Roxboro, NC on the day of his 20th work anniversary to accept God’s call to ministry at age 42 and never looked back. God gave Chris a burden to serve Him that could only be fulfilled by total surrender to a life of ministry. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminaryin Wake Forest, NC and pastored 4 churches over the next 22 years.
Chris faithfully pastored – Harriet Baptist, Henderson NC (1995-2001) – Timberlake Baptist, Roxboro, NC (2001-2007) – Union Chapel Baptist, Clarksville, VA (2008-2014) – Crystal Hill Baptist, South Boston, VA (2015-2017). Chris also served Momeyer Baptist in the nearly yearlong interim period leading up to Pastor Clay being called.
